The Ontario government has honoured its previous commitment that transit workers with school-aged children will receive free emergency childcare, now that students will be returning to online learning on April 19th.
When emergency childcare for frontline workers was first announced in January, transit workers were excluded. Thanks to ATU Local 113’s advocacy, the Ontario government switched course and extended emergency childcare to transit workers on February 7.
