Marvin Alfred becomes new ATU Local 113 President on January 1
TORONTO, ONTARIO – Members of Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 113, which represents close to 12,000 TTC workers, have elected Marvin Alfred as President and Business Agent in the triennial election held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.
Joining the TTC as an Operator in 2001, Alfred was elected as a shop steward for Arrow Road Bus Garage in 2010 and re-elected in 2013. He has been an ATU Local 113 Executive Board Member since 2016.
“I’d like to thank the members of ATU Local 113 for their confidence in electing me President. I look forward to improving communication within our union and working closely with the new Executive Board, shop stewards and health & safety representatives,” said Marvin Alfred, President-Elect of ATU Local 113.
President-Elect Alfred formally takes office for three years on January 1, 2022.
Angie Clark was elected as Executive Vice President and Max Matharu as Secretary-Treasurer.
“Working collaboratively with this new team and all members, I promise to work tirelessly for the membership as we usher in a new era of energetic representation with accountability,” said Alfred.
