TORONTO, ONTARIO – (November 12, 2019) – Carlos Santos, President of Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 113, released the following statement regarding Toronto Transit Commission Operations Supervisors in Transit Control – Surface Operations exercising their right to unionize with the Canadian Union of Public Employees.

“Toronto’s nearly 12,000 public transit workers are encouraged by Toronto Transit Commission Operations Supervisors in Transit Control – Surface Operations exercising their right to unionize with a likely vote on November 21 to join the Canadian Union of Public Employees.

ATU Local 113 members know firsthand the benefits of workplace solidarity at the TTC. For over 100 years, Sisters and Brothers have been working together to deliver the job protections, benefits and pensions workers deserve while improving workplace health and safety.

I encourage all workers to learn more about their right to unionize, and for TTC Operations Supervisors in Transit Control – Surface Operations to consider how working together in a union can support them as they create the workplace they deserve while advancing the Canadian labour movement.”
