70th anniversary of arrest in Montgomery – December 1, 1955

On this day, we commemorate the extraordinary legacy of Rosa Parks, whose act of defiance sparked a movement that transformed civil rights in North America and around the world.  By refusing to give up her seat on a Montgomery bus on December 1, 1955, she challenged a system designed to exclude, helping shape the fight for justice, fairness, and equity in transit and beyond. As we honour her unwavering courage and recognize the impact of her actions on this 70th anniversary, ATU Local 113 remains committed to continuing our own advocacy work for better transit for all.
