Sisters and Brothers,

We received news today that a TTC bus operator from the Malvern Division has tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).

I spoke with the member today who is doing well and recovering at home. We all wish them a full and quick recovery.

The member’s last shift was on Thursday, April 30, when the member worked from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.  before going home, and then returning for their 2:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. shift. The member ran the Steeles East route in the morning and the Nugget route in the afternoon.

The member began experiencing symptoms on Thursday, April 30, and was tested on Friday, May 1. They received a positive test result on Sunday, May 3.

Please contact your shop steward or board member for more information.

This member’s diagnosis marks the 28th ATU Local 113 member who has tested positive for COVID-19. Seven TTC employees who are not ATU Local 113 members have also tested positive, bringing the total number of TTC employees who have tested positive for COVID-19 to 35.

Please practice social distancing as much as possible before, during and after your shifts – and stay home if you feel unwell.

In solidarity,

Carlos Santos

President, ATU Local 113
