The opening of the Finch West Light Rail Transit (LRT) line today marks a major milestone for transit in Toronto. ATU Local 113 members will operate the line, bringing safe, reliable and accessible transit service to our communities every day. We are proud of the work our members have done to bring the service to a successful launch.
Executive Board Members were present at the opening ceremony, along with city officials, community and TTC leaders.
“Today’s launch is a testament to the expertise of our members and the value of public transit workers. We are proud to operate this new line and to continue delivering quality service to riders across the city, Toronto deserves investment in building a world class public transit system and in public transit workers to operate and maintain it,” said President Marvin Alfred.
As the Finch West LRT begins its inaugural trips, our union remains committed to advocating for strong public transit, good jobs, and a safe public transit service for riders and workers.
