After weeks of stalling, the TTC responded to our grievance admitting their Fitness For Duty oral fluid testing devices use gelatin of bovine (cow or ox). They also promised to meet our demands for accommodation, as per the Ontario Human Rights Code.
This action illustrates the importance of standing unified, and vigilant, with TTC management.
To seek accommodation if you are unable to have contact with gelatin, notify your manager in writing in advance of being selected for random testing. If you are unable to receive accommodation, or have concerns regarding today’s confirmation from the TTC, please contact your shop steward.
